Shinyhead Studios are excited to announce the formation of our first Rock School class! Open to beginning and intermediate musicians aged 15-21, this weekly class will meet for 8 consecutive Wednesday nights 7-9pm from January 10 - February 28. The class will conclude with a free public performance at Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church on March 3 at 3pm.
Your teacher is Dave Martin, a 30 year veteran choir teacher and lifelong musician. While teaching choir at West Middle School in Taylor, Dave started a Little Kids Rock sponsored modern rock band, before being interrupted by the pandemic. Dave has played guitar and sung in many successful bands, including Raising The Dead (a Grateful Dead tribute), The Classics, The Bel Airs, Hubbell Street, 120 Minute Men, the GIPC Band, and many more.
The School of Rock course is geared towards young musicians who are looking to play with others, with expert musical guidance. Players of drums, guitar, keyboards, bass, vocals are all welcome. We will bring in other expert professional musicians as clinicians over the course of the program.
The studio has 2 drum kits (one acoustic, on electronic), 3 keyboards (piano, synth, Hammond organ & Leslie), a bass amp and cab, 4 guitar amplifiers, multiple mics, music stands, and lots of auxilary percussion instruments.
Tuition is $400 for the whole session and concert. There is a 10-student limit, so claim your spot soon! If there is more interest, additional sessions may be added on Tuesdays.
