Sh-BoomThe Classics Band plays a wedding Yesterday, The Classics Band met to record some songs. I sang and played guitar with Mike Shriver (bass and vocals on "I Can't Help"), Jim Dignan (drums), Ron Gould (piano), Nancy Oz (vocals), Jay Young (Trumpet), Jack Ficara (sax), and Fred Oliver (Trombone). All the tracks are single-take live recordings. Looking for a family-friendly, all-occasions big band for your function? Contact Dave to inquire about booking The Classics! Today, the Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church band played three tunes by Pat Metheney as part of the worship service. On two of them, I played the melodica, a keyboard-wind hybrid instrument that has a cool, unique sound. This one is an Angel Melodyhorn. Check out our performances below! On Saturday, September 8th, Hubble Street Jazz performed at Rochester's Arts and Apples festival. Here are some videos from that gig, including my original song "Michigan Winter." Keep Your Hands To YourselfThis Friday, August 31st, at Tongue's Chill Lounge and Protein Bar in Wyandotte, Dave will perform a live acoustic set from 7-10. It will be a cool mix of cover tunes from the 40s to 2012, and include rock and roll, love ballads, jazz standards, and even music theater! Dave will accompany himself on the piano and guitar, and will release his 5-song EP "Resonance" at the party. "Resonance" is also currently available as a download from Dave's Bandcamp site. Come out and enjoy some of the excellent coffee, tea, and slushy drinks (Dave recommends the Moroccan Spice on ice) and see some great music! Also this weekend: The Bel Airs will perform at Camp Dearborn at 6pm on Saturday. Come out and enjoy some oldies this Labor Day weekend! The cry of a lover in denial, still believing his soulmate will return in time. I believe in the permanence of the firmament Circuitous paths and perpetual patterns In your image, I traced constellations Our place was assured among the stars, we were destined for heaven. Together. I couldn’t have guessed, and I can’t accept it You welcomed another into our garden. He can’t be your one love, I am your true love And star-crossed lovers can’t override the power of destiny And star-crossed lovers can’t survive the fate I see so clearly As sure as the Earth is flat And Elvis is coming back You’ll never love anyone as much as me It’s foretold in the Zodiac, The fates have ordained our love relapse Until then I’ll be the one that got away Every time I look to the stars, they remind me Patience is a small price to pay for eternity So I wait and I swear You can hear the fateful whisper I’ve seen that look in your eyes, I’ve seen that look in your eyes But never as deep as when you looked in mine They never shine like when you looked in mine Here are some videos from last night's gig at Riverside Park in Auburn Hills. Enjoy musical goodness from the golden age of rock and roll! We met through a friend and the drama began The day I saw your face I made my move and we started to groove on the couch at your best friend’s place That night we started to talk and we couldn’t stop We nearly eclipsed the moon When the sun came up i already knew You were gonna be the one So I asked you And you said yes And then you kissed me And I was ob-sessed It won’t surprise you to know In my chemical vertigo Your eyes just stole this heart of mine It’s a victimless crime And I’ll do the time, yeah.... Yeah, we met through a friend and the drama began The day i saw your face I made my move and we’ve been groovin’ Ever since that day And now we share a love so rare We sure eclipsed the moon And the sun never set on the day we met And it never will again All ‘cause I love you And you love me too Our love is limitless And I am so blessed Yes, you stole this heart of mine, It’s a victimless crime This Friday, join The Bel Airs in Auburn Hills' Riverside Park for a show of the best of the golden age of rock and roll! The 9-piece group will be only 8, as our lead guitarist is out of town on another gig - so I'm picking up my axe for the whole show! Watch for the cool new Simpsons pickguard I've installed on my Antique Blue Variax 600 guitar at the gig!
