Last Saturday, June 22, I was honored to be asked to sing with an amazing group of musicians, The Rhythm Kings. The group was hired to play a wedding reception at - of all places - The Huntington Room, which is inside MSU's Spartan Stadium, overlooking the iconic collegiate field. The 10-piece ensemble played songs from Beatles to Lady Gaga, Sam and Dave to Michael Buble. I brought my camera and recorded a couple songs to share with you.

I'll be joining The Rhythm Kings again when they play at Weber's Restaurant in Ann Arbor on August 9 and 10.

On Friday, July 21st, I played for Wyandotte's Firehouse Gallery Artist night. A spirited crowd and the community of artists celebrated and sold artwork. Some particularly enthusiastic patrons can be heard on the "Forget You" video. Note that some adult language is used in that video.

I'll be back at the Firehouse Gallery for their Christmas in July celebration, on July 25th. In the mean time, go there and check out their wide variety of arts and crafts, with prices anyone can afford. On Thursday, June 13, Swing Shift played at the Auburn Hills Community Recreation Center. We played an eclectic mix of new and old, jazz, blues, and rock - all tunes with a swingin' beat. For this show, Phil Mooney rocked the guitar as only he can, Mike "Moose" Shriver kept the low end up on bass, and Jim Dignan smacked his Slingerlands. I sang lead on most songs, and for this gig I switched off between guitar and keyboards, using my new Novation Launchkey 61 controlling Mainstage on my MacBook Pro for most of the show. I loved the new gear! Here are some songs from that gig for your listening enjoyment.

Today, Lara Semetko presented a spectacular recital featuring opera, music theater, and jazz selections at Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church. Lara, my former intern teacher, will begin her graduate assistantship at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign this fall, as a vocal performance major. I was honored to perform with Lara singing this immortal duet from West Side Story. Enjoy!

On Sunday, June 2nd, Lara Semetko will present her pre-graduate school recital. A Grosse Ile native, I've known Lara since she was 9 and starred as Little Red in a production of Into The Woods I music directed for Showbiz Kidz. Ms. Semetko just graduated with her Bachelor's degree in Music Education and Voice Performance, and completed her degree as my Intern Teacher this past semester.

The concert is at 3pm, and will feature a variety of Operatic and Musical Theater songs. I will be duetting with Lara, singing "Tonight" from West Side Story. Admission is free, and any donations will be gladly accepted to defray Lara's graduate school costs. Please come join us! More information is found in the article at the News-Herald.
