THE SONGS
- I Call Your Name is an all-out, pop Christian Contemporary song of praise, meant to be sung loudly by a full congregation.
- The Connection reminds us that Jesus is the Word of God, in whose steps we are to follow.
- Release is inspired by Revelation 7:9-17, assurance that God will wipe every tear from our eyes.
- The Stones (Will Fall) reitirates Mark 13:1-8, that because all we see is fleeting, we must fix our eyes on the eternal.
- No Favorite Child is a lyric originally intended for the music on Sunday Morning Live, Vol. 1's "Inside The Music." The lyric didn't fit and was recycled in this tender, dynamic ballad.
- A Fool Who Believes is a statement of faith by the composer. Perhaps you can relate.
- Sometimes/Surrender came in a moment of prayer upon decisions that weighed heavily on the author's mind.
- (In Her) Wake was written for a mentor, upon her retirement, in recognition of her great and abiding faith in God.
- Ask was written with and for the singer, Mia Martin, and her youthful personality shines through her performance.
THE BAND
To say that the GIPC Band is a unique ensemble is an understatement. The musicians are expert performers and have crafted these contributions to worship with the wisdom of their experience.
The GIPC Band includes Douglas Scott, concert pianist and organist, Motown cellist Michael Karoub, former Laith Al-Saadi band member, cellist Jordan Schug, jack-of-all-trades bassist Godfrey Porter, one of Detroit's most sought-after giging drummers, Jason Cassell, and the 2012 "Downriver Idol," songwriter, guitarist, and singer, Dave Martin. Backing vocals are expertly handled by GIPC members Derek Bolton and Tracey Alford. The album's closing (and only studio) track, "Ask" features lead vocals by 10-year-old Michigan Opera Theater Children's Chorus member Mia Martin. |
